Current Title: Neon Blue: Girl, Unlocked. Laurel 'Blue' Humboldt, a young DEA agent on a terrifying, suspenseful international and cross-USA case involving a murderous South American drug cartel that makes the Mafia look tame. At the same time, she must solve the aching mystery of her bi-girl love life. She handles her emotions by keeping them in a mental box under a padlock to avoid dealing with them. At the end, after dealing with the drug cartel and other problems, she has finally found the key to a romantic love that will make her (and her lucky partner) happy ever after (HEA).
John Argo's Neon Blue, published online in 1996, is the story of young Laurel 'Blue' Humboldt, a new DEA agent in Manhattan who is plunged into a deadly drug investigation involving an international smuggling ring from Colombia. Her investigation takes her coast to coast from New York and Connecticut to Chicago and San Diego.
In the process, she falls in love with two attractive persons. One is John Connor, millionaire importer and former fashion model, a real ladies' man who is searching for deeper meaning in his own life. The other is a breathtakingly beautiful, lesbian San Diego police detective named Martha Yee. Which will she choose in this triangle of temptation? She can't wait long to think because the cartel's razor slasher is after her and the new man in her life, John Connor.
At the climax of the novel, it's Blue versus the Slasher in a shopping mall in San Diego. It's after hours, the two are alone, it's a combat for life and death, and the mall gets pretty wrecked in the process. This would make a spectacular romantic action movie, like most John Argo novels and short stories.
*First HTML Novel. Neon Blue was the world's first true online e-book for reading online (need to be redundant here) in HTML format rather than on portable media such as floppies. It is proprietary (owned by the author) rather than public domain, which in itself totally sets it apart from public domain material (e.g., as published on the Web by Project Gutenberg).
Neon Blue was released in an innovative format of weekly serial chapters, one each Sunday evening for over a year, to resounding kudos from readers around the world. Clocktower Books still has some of those early raves (including a review from McClatchey News Service) on file and will publish online sometime soon.
